A4 SUSTAINABLE TRAVEL SCHEME
Scheme: A4 Sustainable Travel Scheme
Client: Buckinghamshire County Council
Dates: April 2019 – November 2019
Scope of Works:
The A4 Sustainable Travel Scheme (STS) provides a new cycleway proposal that connects Taplow Station to the Mill Lane development site, the Bishop Centre, and Slough train station. This scheme aims to encourage sustainable bus, walk, and cycle travel from and to (Taplow and Slough) train stations facing an increase in demand following station (access) improvements underway to accommodate new Crossrail services.
The A4 STS will especially strive to:
-
Encourage better walk and cycle travel
-
Improve connectivity with existing cycle networks (NCN 61, Beeches and Lake End road cycle routes), the Bishop Centre, Slough and Taplow train stations
-
Improve cycling access to local visitor attractions (such as Cliveden House) to encourage increases in tourism
-
Encourage general health and well being
